With this article, I want to start again. I think that lately things have become a little too complicated on this particular subject. Many articles seem to be trying to teach people to run before they can walk. So, going back to the beginning, these are the basic steps to achieving success:

How to Success - Tip 1

Firstly, you have to work out specifically what you want to succeed in. Clarity has power in it. There is no point in boldly declaring that you want to be successful. Successful in what? Successfully drop your body fat content from 30% down to 25% over a period of 3 months? That's good! Successfully "lose weight" is NOT good. And saying "Oh, I don't know! I just want to be generally successful" also won't help. You have to be specific! And if you can get specific, you are ahead of 95% of the rest of the people on the planet already. By the way, you can have lots of things that you are specific about. You don't have to just stick to one.

How to Success - Tip 2

Now, you have to have at least a small belief that you can achieve your goal. Doesn't have to be a big belief at the moment. That will come later.

How to success - Tip 3

Now, you have to find a way to keep your focus on the very specific end result you want. Because if you don't, then as sure as the sun will rise tomorrow, your mind will wander away from your goal. Some people use affirmations. Some use self-hypnosis. Some use subliminals. Some write their goals down daily. Whatever method or methods you choose, use it/them on a daily basis. If you can keep yourself (and by yourself I actually mean your mind) focused on what you want, then Your Success Instinct will start to move you towards it. Lose focus, and run the very real risk of losing your goal.

How to Success - Tip 4

Now, stay positive and stay moving. Do something every single day that moves you towards your goal. And STOP doing things that are moving you away from your goal. You can make use of what I call the "small-step-starter" technique for when you just don't feel like doing anything. This is easy and VERY useful. Here's how it works: Say you are writing a book and your plan requires that you write a page a day. But the trouble is, you are feeling reeeeeeaally lazy today, and just couldn't be bothered. Fine! Then just sit down to write just one paragraph. 9 times out of 10 you will write more than just one paragraph. And many of those times you will end up writing the whole page. It just seems to be a fact that, for us humans anyway, actually getting started is the most difficult part. We are fine once we get going!

How to Success - Tip 5

Persist, Persist, Persist. Now is the time when you have to keep in mind that most things worth having are not received straight away. Or in one step. Rather, it is the accumulation of a lot of little steps, a lot of small victories, that eventually get you to where you want to be. But you have to keep on keeping on.

How to Success - Tip 6

Keep track of your progress, or lack of it. Without a way to measure where you are, how do you know if you are getting to where you want to be? And there is another reason too: You feel better if you can see that you are achieving something. It keeps you going.

There you go! Now you know "How to Success".

That was easy enough, wasn't it? But then learning to use your success instinct isn't complicated when you know how!
