It is especially important for patients with diabetes to actively pursue reaching (and maintaining) a healthy weight. Many cases of diabetes in the United States are caused by obesity. Moreover, diabetes can be measurably more severe as a patient’s weight increases. Dieting for patients with diabetes can be a real challenge, but NutriSystem has alleviated that problem with the development of NutriSystem D. It’s true: Diabetics must worry about blood sugar, glucose levels and insulin production, which can become quite overwhelming. Despite the benefits of weight loss, many diabetics find dieting to be a difficult task.
Thankfully, NutriSystem’s NutriSystem D diet plan is developed specifically for diabetics, and like other NutriSystem weight loss plans, it offers participants a range of prepackaged meals. These meals offer them the correct balance of all the nutrients they need, while still having low sugar levels and calorie count. Although the plan assumes that participants will eat three NutriSystem meals each day, they are able to snack on fruits, vegetables and low-fat dairy products as they please.
The diabetic community is conservatively optimistic about the promise that NutriSystem D offers. Preliminary studies done by medical researchers at Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvanie indicate that if the plan is followed correctly, participants can experience significant weight loss. This data is so exciting to the medical community because being overweight can cause serious complications for diabetics and therefore, weight loss is of upmost importance for this group. The same research has shown that participants who lost weight using the NutriSystem D plan also had significantly lower A1c scores, indicating a noticeable improvement in their overall health. Because the A1c score measures insulin production and sugar levels, seeing this score decrease confirms the link between weight loss and improved health for diabetics.
The potential of NutriSystem D to make an impact is significant. Diabetes is a leading disease in the United States, currently affecting over 23 million Americans. Considering that this disease, especially type 2, is largely preventable, these numbers are rather alarming. Research has shown a direct link between being overweight and being at risk for diabetes, so this issue is definitely one that needs to be addressed. As mentioned earlier, weight loss can be especially difficult for diabetics, and the medical community has tried many methods over the years to help patients. The preliminary success of the NutriSystem D not only indicates that it is an effective weight loss plan, but that it is also a plan that is simple enough for the average person to follow without too much difficulty.
